What is a Chiropractic Subluxation? Shown and explained with Color X-Ray and Color MRI Images

The term "subluxation" is often used by Chiropractic Physicians to describe a Vertebra which is not in its normal alignment. This can impair the function of the affected part of the Spine and the adjacent Nerves traveling to our organs. Subluxed Vertebrae are often the target of Chiropractic Manipulation. The goal of the treatment is to place the Vertebra into normal alignment with the adjacent Vertebrae. This can restore the function and proper curvature of the Spine.

Medical Media Images (MMI) designed Color X-Rays and Color MRI Scans as Medical Images to help Chiropractic Physicians explain the concept of "subluxation" to their patients.

Lets first take a look at the Spine Anatomy of the Neck to help us understand the concept of a "subluxation". This is a Color X-Ray Image. This Image is Interactive. Just move your Mouse Cursor over the Image and see the Image Tags come alive. Each tag displays text to explain a specific structure.

Here is a Color X-Ray Image of the same neck suffering from a Chiropractic Subluxation. Notice how the Vertebra shown by the red line is completely out of alignment. It should be aligned with the green line.

Lets take a look at a Color MRI Scan of the Head and Brain. This first MRI introduces you to the Spine Anatomy of the Neck and the surrounding structures. This Image is Interactive. Enjoy learning from the Interactive Tags.

Now lets take a look what a subluxation looks like on a Color MRI of the Head and Brain. The red arrow shows the displaced (subluxed) Vertebra. You can see how the subluxation stresses the Spine, including the Spinal Discs above and below the Vertebra. This Image is also Interactive.
